Graphic design is the art of visual communication.
A single photo can say a lot compared to a four-word slogan. So when something is utterly eye-catching, that’s one step closer to reeling in your market.
Everybody loves a good logo design because it makes their minds tick. And if it’s that good, it leaves a lasting impression.
This graphic design lesson will focus on a core element that speaks to your business – logos.
And this is where the journey of visual identity begins.

Why are logos important? They’re the face of your business! And you know what they say, it’s all about first impressions.
In this case, you also want to build credibility and an image at first glance.
Your logo has to incorporate a balance between connecting with the market and introducing your business. It has to be effective to the point that they associate the logo with your business and nothing else.
Now, we’re going to give you the 3 major components when it comes to designing your business’ logo.
So bring out your notes and take these down! Let’s start.
Less is definitely more.
Too many complex images in your logo would confuse your audience. Yes, we understand that you want to make it a memorable one, but remember that there’s also an impact on simplicity.
But don’t use those typical or common symbols. Create an element that stands out in the crowd and make it say, “This is for my business and my business only!”
Now, hear us out. We feel that a lot still gets this confused:
Your logo isn’t your brand. Your logo has to communicate your brand.
We’ll explain this using an iconic one: Nike.
Do you notice the way the market conceptualizes the Nike Logo at first glance?
Right off the bat, it’s about sports, running, shoes – that whole line.
But the thing is, their logo isn’t their main brand. Instead, they’re communicating to the audience
about what they sell and what they stand for using that single ‘swoosh.’
And that, students, is the power of having a main and well-thought-out element.
There has to be a reason behind everything. You want your logo design to speak for itself.
Did you know that using a consistent color in your logo can improve brand recognition by up to 80%?
Your chosen colors and typeface have to hit your audience at a bullseye. They should be able to experience something or what’s more, move them into a call to action (CTA).
And this is another factor, the way you build your CTA.

Use bright and primary colors for this. Make it inviting and show that your business is trustworthy.
Not all colors impact people the same way, but you still shouldn’t miss out on the effective use of color psychology.
For the typeface, here’s a lingering question: do you need to add text to your logo? Or should your logo already say it all?
That’s all up to your business and how you want it to strike the market.
But know that specific styles of text build personality and character. You have to use your typeface to enhance the tone of luring in your market.
Our final component, which encapsulates everything – the look.
You have to understand that the market immediately judges on sight.
So if they don’t like what they see, why would they stay for more?
Remember Visual Identity.
It’s the reason for having a logo in the first place.
If someone has absolutely no prior knowledge of your business, you have to educate them through your logo.

Think about this, if someone would see your logo on a brochure, stand, or on the side of a poster, does it have enough power to make them stop walking?
Would it make them want to bring out their phones and search about your business?
Bring them slowly toward the call to action by not even saying a single word.
Communicate with a picture and grow your business from there.
Now, after this first lesson of Graphic Design 101, what do you think about logos? What’s your take on visual identity?
